Steve & Virginia

Chopper | The Howard family has operated in the Hand Hills for four generations. Uncle Jackson Howard, the very first "Jack" in "Papa Jack," homesteaded there in 1909. He was killed at Passchendaele during WWI, and willed the land to his sister. This brought the rest of the family west before 1920. Interestingly enough, after nearly a century, the original Howard homestead, filed on by Jackson Howard, is still owned by a Jackson Howard - the current "Jack" in "Papa Jack."
Papa Jack is family owned and operated. Jack Howard is the third generation to live and work on this farm. He has worked on the farm full time his entire life. Steve and his wife Virginia are the up and coming fourth generation. They are working at keeping the family farm going strong into the future. We still do business over coffee and a handshake. Please feel free to drop in for a visit- we would love to show you the cattle and answer any questions you might have. | |
